This magnificent potted blue and white porcelain plate from the Yuan Dynasty bears all the elegance and good taste of ancient Chinese pottery. It starts with a foot that opens the way to the elegant arches painted on the outside of the cavetto, which ends in a flared lip, molded to imitate the ancient metalwork.
The inner part begins with floral scrollwork that runs along the edge and makes way for exquisite lotus flowers wrapped in curly stems and leaves. In the central medallion is the majestic image of two phoenix revolving around each other, painted in exquisite tones of cobalt oxide blue and surrounded by daffodils on wavy branches.
